Nathan Aspinall needed barely any time on his PDC return to deliver an early highlight. The Englishman opened Players Championship 27 in Leicester on Tuesday with a nine-darter, striking in the very first leg of his match against Thibault Tricole.

Aspinall started with back-to-back maximums of 180. That left 141 after six perfect darts. ‘The Asp’ made light work of it, clearing the remainder in three darts to complete the perfect leg. It set the tone for a convincing win. Tricole had few answers to the unleashed Englishman and ultimately had to concede 6-1 to Aspinall.

Perfect return for Aspinall

The feat stands out all the more as Aspinall had not played an official match for over a month. His last appearance dated 21.07.2026, when he was knocked out in the second round of the World Matchplay in Blackpool by Luke Littler. On his first outing since that defeat, he struck immediately.
It is far from the first time Aspinall has produced a perfect leg at a floor event. The 35-year-old Englishman now sits on eight recorded nine-darters at Players Championship tournaments. He threw his previous one in 10.2025. During Players Championship 33, Aspinall hit the perfect leg against Ian White.
That month he was in sublime touch whenever the first six darts found treble 20. A few events earlier, at Players Championship 31, Aspinall managed something few players achieve: two nine-darters on the same day. He first struck in his match against Steve Lennon, before Lukas Wenig also witnessed nine perfect darts from the Englishman.
