Few darters in the entirety of the 96-player field of the 2025 PDC World Darts Championship head to the Alexandra Palace with as much confidence and self-belief as Ritchie Edhouse. After a breakthrough year that saw 'Madhouse' claim a first major title, it's not hard to understand why either.

Thanks to his impressive season in 2024, Edhouse embarks on the 5th PDC World Darts Championship of his career as a seed for the very first time. "It's been going well. Obviously it's the first time ever being a champion. Everyone's been really nice and it's just good feelings," Edhouse tells Sky Sports. "It's massive. I mean, I feel like I should be here. I'm not just taking part. Every tournament I go to, I could win it."

Twice Edhouse has reached the second round in the past, but in his last two appearances at the Ally Pally has fell to 3-2 defeats in the opening round against David Cameron and Jeffrey de Graaf respectively. This year though, a different Edhouse arrives in North London.

"Obviously it's the biggest tournament of the year in the world, so it's nice to be in form at the end of the year as well," he says. "I always said confidence breeds confidence, and going into it, I feel I could beat anyone if I play my game. Anyone there, if they play their game, can win it. And yeah, so we just go up there and see what happens when we play. For me, at the moment, just get past Christmas. I would say I've always lost first or second round. So yeah, it'd be nice to come back after Christmas for a change and see how it goes."

As the 29th seed, Edhouse opens his tournament in the second round. There, the winner of the duel between Ian White and Sandro Eric Sosing awaits for the European Championship winner.
