Evetts defeats Rafferty to win 2021 PDC World Youth Championship

At his final opportunity to win the PDC World Youth Championship, Ted Evetts has finally done it defeating Nathan Rafferty in a 6-4 win.

Evetts is now 24 having only got into this year's tournament due to being 23 at the start of the year meaning like previous winners in recent years, he has done so on his last opportunity.

In doing so, he has also handed a third spot to the PDPA Qualifier denying Rafferty a second chance of making it to the World Darts Championship after Bradley Brooks took the Development Tour win in the final event away from 'The Natural'.

This is due to Evetts already qualified as the 30th player on the ProTour Order of Merit so another spot will be on the line in Barnsley.

Evetts cruelly was denied a shot at 156 with the second treble 20 dropping out but he returned for 76 and a break with Rafferty unable to take out 128.

He missed a 100 checkout on double 19 and Rafferty broke straight back with a 70 checkout to make it 1-1.

He broke again to continue his upward momentum to make it 3-1. Both players missed a dart at the bullseye before Evetts hit double eight to make it 3-2.

He made it parity at 3-3 with double six and with Rafferty squandering three darts at doubles, Evetts returned to break and make it 4-3.

He converted double 16 to go one away from there. Rafferty had to win all remaining legs and hit 100 to give himself a chance.

But Evetts was superb on his own throw and pinned 47 after a 104 set up to claim it.
