The new season has already kicked off with the first two World Series events of the year. Last week at the Bahrain Darts Masters and this week at the Saudi Arabia Darts Masters, the first titles of the 2026 season were on the line. Fans worldwide can now also vote for their favorite player from last season.

Season completely dominated by Littler

The PDC has launched a poll allowing fans across the globe to choose who they felt was the best player of the 2025/2026 season. Unsurprisingly, Luke Littler tops the options. The Nuke was head and shoulders above the rest last season, winning no fewer than six majors. His second consecutive world title crowned a magnificent campaign for the Englishman, who celebrates his 19th birthday today.
Thanks to all those titles, Littler also took over the world number one spot from Luke Humphries. Yet Cool Hand Luke certainly did not have a poor season. On the contrary, the 30-year-old Englishman won two majors, the Premier League Darts and the Winmau World Masters, and also lost three major finals. Only the Worlds proved a disappointment for Humphries, who lost in the quarterfinals to Gian van Veen.
Just behind Humphries, Gian van Veen currently sits third in the world rankings. The 23-year-old Dutchman fully broke through last season by winning the European Championship. He then reached the World Championship final, where Littler still proved a class apart with a 7-1 victory. Van Veen has since climbed to third in the world rankings, moving past Michael van Gerwen as the top Dutchman.

Who else is up for the award

Michael van Gerwen endured a below-par year by his standards. Hampered by personal issues, he managed just one major title, the World Series of Darts on home soil. As a result, he dropped out of the top three in the world rankings for the first time in a very long time.
MvG's fellow Dutchman Danny Noppert also features on the list of nominees. The Freeze reached as many as four major semifinals, but the ultimate reward of a title eluded him.
Other nominees include proven major winners such as Jonny Clayton, Gary Anderson, Gerwyn Price, and James Wade. Plus more names that have begun to breakthrough this year such as Ryan Searle and Josh Rock.
Fans can cast their vote until Wednesday 28th of February, with the poll closing at 5:00 PM that evening.
