Field confirmed for 2022 World Matchplay: Wright, Price and Smith lead seeds in Blackpool

The field has been confirmed ahead of this year's World Matchplay which is due to take place between July 16-25 at the prestigious Winter Gardens in Blackpool.

Leading the way in terms of seeded players are defending champion, Peter Wright alongside Gerwyn Price and Michael Smith.

Michael van Gerwen deciding to take the weekend off could prove pivotal with 'Bully Boy' leapfrogging him and handing the Dutch ace a quarter with James Wade, Joe Cullen and Luke Humphries with the draw taking place at 6:30pm on Monday `11 July.

Among the other seeds include Gary Anderson (#6), Jonny Clayton (#8), previous champions Dimitri van den Bergh and Rob Cross (#10) and UK Open champion Danny Noppert (#12).

The ProTour qualifiers are led by in-form Aussie ace, Damon Heta who will be among the dangerous floaters who will face the seeds which also include Ryan Searle, Adrian Lewis, Nathan Aspinall and a return to the major stage for Andrew Gilding.

A number of players are also set for their debuts with Martin Schindler, Martin Lukeman, Madars Razma and Rowby-John Rodriguez rewarded for stand out form so far this season.
