LEAGUE TABLE! 📊 Confirmation of the final standings following Night 16, as Michael Smith claims the last remaining Play-Off place.
The league phase of the 2024 Premier League Darts is over. On Thursday, May 23, the top four players of the league phase will compete for the final victory at the playoffs at the O2 Arena in London.
Two weeks ago Luke Littler and Luke Humphries had already secured a spot for the final stage. After the fifteenth round of play Michael van Gerwen joined this English pair. So there was still one spot available for the playoffs at the start of the sixteenth round of play.
The battle for the final ticket was between Michael Smith and Nathan Aspinall, who additionally faced each other Thursday night in Sheffield. It was a matter of winner takes it all and in the end Smith walked away with the spoils. 'Bullyboy' was 6-3 too strong for his good friend Aspinall, allowing Smith to report to London next week.
The former world champion finished on the same number of points (29) as number three Michael van Gerwen, but because Van Gerwen has more weekly titles (4) to his name, Van Gerwen remains the number three in the rankings.
Luke Littler secured first place in the league stage Thursday night by winning over Peter Wright in his opening match. This brought Littler to a point total of forty points. A fantastic result for the 17-year-old teenage sensation who made his debut in Premier League Darts this year. Luke Humphries had to settle for second place after securing 36 points in sixteen rounds of play.
Nathan Aspinall finished outside the spots for the playoffs with 25 points. Rob Cross (17 points), Gerwyn Price (12 points) and Peter Wright (four points) were previously out of contention for a spot in the last four.
