Rob Cross and Michael Smith will face off in tonight's World Matchplay final and an interesting statistic has been released ahead of this.

It will be an all-English final at the World Matchplay for the first time since 2013 where Phil Taylor defeated Adrian Lewis in an epic.

Before that there was only ever five finals in history that weren't all English with of course Taylor dominant as well as Rod Harrington, Peter Evison and Colin Lloyd all taking glory; with only American Larry Butler taking victory who isn't English. Richie Burnett and John Part are among the other names to reach the final.

Since the last final it has been Michael van Gerwen who has been involved in three of them; winning two and losing one to Taylor.

Peter Wright was involved in the 2017 final losing to the retiring 'Power' and last year it was an all non English final with Gary Anderson beating Mensur Suljovic.
