Craig Galliano anchored home hopes with a terrific 6-2 win over Mario Vandenbogaerde at the Gibraltar Darts Trophy with the World Cup star sealing his maiden PDC stage win and he lauded it as his biggest achievement so far.
"I knew I was the underdog but I had confidence that I knew if I played my game that I could win," said Galliano to GBC News.
"We've been close in the World Cup twice, lost 5-3 but when you're on the PDC stage in front of your home crowd, it doesn't get better than that."
This in the final ever Gibraltar Darts Trophy which Galliano said is a shame but is looking forward to the next challenge and in his periphery is Peter Wright this evening as he spoke about his game plan.
"It's a shame that it's the last time here because us Gibraltarian players are very passionate about darts, we take it seriously but it is what it is. I just keep focusing and whatever comes in front of me, I'll challenge it."
"I'm playing the World Champion, I'm the underdog. I'll prepare the same and I'm just gonna go up there and enjoy in front of my family and my friends."
