Dimitri van den Bergh has made light work of Gary Anderson coming back from a poor opening set to average just over 102 in moving through at the Winmau World Masters.
A new walk on but an even better Van den Bergh as 'The Dreammaker' who recently ditched Happy will be certainly that with his display tonight. From busting the opening leg and letting Anderson in, he reeled off six in a row to complete the second round line-up.
He will return tomorrow to face Michael van Gerwen albeit his record against the Dutchman is poor but based off the form tonight, it could be one that could prove to be an issue for the Green Machine.
Both started well but it was Van den Bergh who bust 76 and Anderson picked his pocket for a break and 1-0. Averaging 115, he left 41 after nine and took the opening set on double 16.
Van den Bergh hit back sealing the second set and he held throw to begin the third with Anderson instead going for two double 20’s on 180 knowing the game was up.
A 168 from Anderson left 94 with Van den Bergh on top until then in the leg. He went chasing the double double on double 20 and double 18 but couldn’t pin the second and Van den Bergh hit double 16 for a 14-darter and a 2-1 sets lead.
Anderson missed 78 on double 20 for a hold and Van den Bergh hit double 10 for 1-0 and was throwing for the match. A 180 sent Van den Bergh towards the finish as he followed it up sending it down to 135.
Anderson was given 161 to stay alive with Van den Bergh whittling down 135 and Van den Bergh sealed an impressive win to move through to that top tie tomorrow.
