Gary Anderson was one of the big earners at the Players Championship tournaments this season. 'The Flying Scotsman' won three tournaments and took in a total of £77,750 in prize money, only Gerwyn Price did better.
Anderson did trump Price with something else, though. Indeed, the Scot had the highest seasonal average of any player on the Players Championship circuit in 2023, TheRedBit180 calculated.
The two-time world champion played a total of 93 matches on the Players Championship circuit in 2023. Over these matches, Anderson can boast a season average of 99.43.
This makes Anderson the successor to Michael van Gerwen, who had the highest season average in 2022 with 99.80. Incidentally, in 2021 (99.32), 2019 (99.43) and 2018 (100.56), Van Gerwen also had the highest season average at Players Championship tournaments. In 2020, there was another Scottish list leader. Peter Wright then had a season average of 99.86.
