Welsh darts star
Gerwyn Price has
taken to Instagram to vent his frustration after his coat was stolen during a rugby outing in Newport, launching a public appeal for information as he tries to track it down.
The former world champion said the incident happened at Potters Newport, posting multiple Stories describing both the missing item and what witnesses told him afterwards.
Price said the coat โ a long black puffer from Sandbanks โ disappeared while he was out watching the rugby, prompting him to share a series of increasingly frustrated updates.
In one early message, Price wrote: โOut to watch the rugby and some smelly scruffy old ruff un decides to steal my coatโฆ potters bar Newportโฆ #SMELLY.โ
Witness account shared on Instagram
A later Story featured a message sent to him by a witness, claiming they had overheard a man saying, โyou have Gerwyn Priceโs coatโ before getting into a taxi heading towards Cwmbran. The same witness added that the couple involved were believed to be from Underwood, just outside Newport.
Price shared the account in full alongside his own commentary, adding the hashtag #findthecoat as he encouraged followers to get in touch if they knew anything.
He then posted a more formal appeal: โAny information on the lady that stole my coat would be much appreciated. It was a long all black puffy @sandbanks coat. Could as many people as possible share this for me please. Stole from @pottersnewport. They are looking at CCTV today.โ
Price aims to stay focused ahead of World Championship opener
The 40-year-old, who has seven PDC major titles to his name, is currently preparing for his upcoming
PDC World Darts Championship opener against Adam Gawlas on 16 December โ but the off-stage disruption has clearly irritated him. Even so, Price indicated he remains focused on his playing routine once the matter is resolved.
With CCTV now being reviewed at Potters Newport, Priceโs hope is that someone recognises the individuals mentioned and comes forward. Until then, the search โ and the hashtag โ continues.
