Gerwyn Price gets underway at the Alexandra Palace with commanding 3-0 win over Connor Scutt

Gerwyn Price has got his 2024 PDC World Darts Championship campaign up and running with a comfortable 3-0 win over Connor Scutt, averaging 98.01 and hitting 5 180s.

One of the pre-tournament favourites, there was big fight feel within the Alexandra Palace as Gerwyn Price made his entrance. He didn't take long to get going either, firing in a maximum with his first three darts en route to a commanding 3-0 set win.

Set 2 was more one way traffic. Despite Scutt hitting two maximums in the second leg, Price took that leg and again whitewashed the set to make to 2-0 with relative ease.

Taking out 121 for a 12-darter to start set 3, Scutt finally got up and running. Price fired back with a hold of throw in leg 2, mopping up 25 and letting out a roar. The firing two 180s of his own in the following leg, the Welshman broke the Scutt throw and moved one from victory. After missing five for the match, Price gave Scutt the opportunity to prolong things and despite a few misses of his own, he sent the set to a deciding leg. Price made no mistake in the next leg however, nailing 96 for the win.
