Gerwyn Price seals first ranking title since 2023, defeats Chris Dobey in comeback win at Players Championship 2

Gerwyn Price has a first ranking title since the back end of 2023 defeating Chris Dobey in the end 8-7 at Players Championship 2 to conclude the first double header of the season.

This after a match which saw 'Hollywood' lead for the vast majority but doubles deserted him in the end as Price clawed it back and won the day. It has been a long and arduous road for 'The Iceman' but he is finally in the winners' enclosure again after winning World Series titles but not one that counts towards his ranking. A big confidence boosting day.

Price hit double 20 for the lead. Dobey pinned double six for 1-1. Price missed 121 to hold and Dobey broke for a break of throw.

A 65 checkout saw Dobey hold throw to go 3-1 up. Price missed bull for 132 to hold. Dobey missed 65 making a mess of the shot and Price hit double 12 for 3-2.

A 74 checkout saw Dobey step in to lead 4-2 with a 109 average. Dobey surged ahead into a 5-3 lead and hit a 180. He went six into a nine-dart finish but managed to hit 81 to go 6-3 up.

Dobey missed double eight for 127 and missed three more to hold. Price took aim at 78 pinning double 20 to break throw at 6-4. Price went one behind pinning double 10 for 6-5. Dobey continued to miss handing a chance to Price who took it to make it 6-6.

Price went one away hitting double 20 for 7-6. Dobey missed 112 for 7-7 but returned to hit double eight for 7-7. Price missed 85 on the bull for the win but Dobey slipped into single one on 124 and Price returned for the title.
