The PDC Europe once again provided first-class darts entertainment with the Night of Champions in the LANXESS Arena. World champions such as Michael van Gerwen, Rob Cross, Luke Humphries, Peter Wright,
Gerwyn Price and Trina Gulliver met in front of over 12,000 enthusiastic spectators. In the end, Gerwyn Price secured the title and presented himself in impressive form shortly before the 2026 World Darts Championship.
But St. Nicholas Day was not just about sport. On this special day, PDC Europe and the Cologne men's choir "Laut aber Schief" visited the children's clinic at Cologne University Hospital. Together with the choir mascot and the stars of the PDC, they paraded through five wards - including cardiology, the women's clinic and the intensive care unit - and brought joy to the eyes of the young patients.
Humphries, Price and Cross make for unforgettable memories
The children received chocolate Santas, nuts, coloring materials, toys, cuddly toys, jerseys and tickets for the European Darts Open 2026 in Leverkusen. Event tickets for upcoming children's events in the LANXESS Arena were also distributed. "Especially at St. Nicholas time, we want to give something back and show that we are thinking of these children: of their strength, their courage and the families who stand by their side every day. It fills us deeply to be able to give them some strength, but above all a smile, with a little moment of happiness," explained PDC Europe spokeswoman Dunja Fadel.
Darts stars up close: Humphries, Price and Cross bring joy to the children's hospital
The campaign was supported by darts stars such as Luke Humphries, Gerwyn Price, Rob Cross and caller Russ Bray, who took time out of their busy schedules to present the gifts in person.
A generous collection for the good cause had already been made in the run-up to the event: Over 16,000 euros were raised through donations from PDC Europe, the men's choir and the sale of artwork signed by the stars. The money will go to the Dr. Ehmann Children's Home and the "Off Road Kids" organization, which looks after street children and children with complex disabilities throughout Germany.
This made St. Nicholas Day in Cologne a perfect mix of top sporting performance and heartfelt support for children who were in particular need of this special attention.
