At the UK Open early this month, there was a lot of buzz about James Wade's action. Who, before his match in the quarterfinals against Luke Humphries, gave his opponent a leak on the neck. To the dismay of Humphries, who complained afterwards. But last weekend, Wade added to that.

In the second round of the Belgian Darts Open, Wade faced off against Raymond van Barneveld. This time he gave his opponent a kiss on the neck. "That's typical Wade, isn't it? Then there's a fuss because of that lick on Humphries' neck, which I felt was coming all the way: he'll get over this again, of course," said Damian Vlottes in the podcast 'Darts Draait Door'.

"He had also decided this weekend: well you know what, on the walk-on I'll take longer than Dimitri Van den Bergh and Stephen Bunting put together. That's unbelievable. They go and stand there and then their song starts, and before they get to the stage, they are fifty autographs deep," responded former pro darter Vincent van der Voort.

Dead tired

"That makes you dead tired, doesn't it? In what sport does that happen? It comes from boxing, that you come up through that crowd. Here they are taking selfies, handing out autographs, and you get tired of it. They could do something about that," says Van der Voort.

"Wade really tries to make those matches dead too, doesn't he?" said Vlottes. "Almost all the averages are below 90. Clayton he also knows how to get out of his game, wins too. Only Littler he doesn't manage to get out of his game."

In the semifinals, Wade went down 7-3 to Littler, who later also managed to win the tournament by beating Mike De Decker 8-5 in the final.
