Glen Durrant has revealed that he once made a remarkable attempt to take over Adrian Lewis’s walk-on music. The former Premier League winner said he even wanted his manager to offer five thousand pounds to secure the two-time world champion’s track.

Durrant switched from the BDO to the PDC in 2019 and had to adapt to playing in major televised tournaments during that period. That also meant a new walk-on, something he wasn’t happy with for a long time. “I came over in 2019 with the same walk on as Adrian Lewis,” Durrant said on the Double Tops podcast. “Suddenly I’m on TV quite quickly because I win a couple of ProTours early doors. I hated my walk-on song."
The Englishman started strongly in his first season with the PDC and soon appeared on the big stages. It was at that moment he noticed how important a good walk-on can be, in his view. “I had three or four within four months. I wanted Adrian’s. So I went to my manager, Mac Elkin, go and offer him five grand."
That attempt, however, came to nothing, as Lewis had no interest in giving up his music. "Thank God he didn’t. Thank you,” Durrant laughed. Lewis was clear about the request and rejected the proposal outright. “I said no chance,” responded the two-time world champion.
According to Durrant, the importance of a walk-on track is often underestimated. The Englishman believes the right music can give a player that little extra on stage. “I think a walk-on song can give you 1%. We’ve seen some powerful walk-ons."
He never truly felt he had found the right track himself. “I can’t remember my other walk-on songs that I had. That’s the one I wanted. It’s a good one. I wanted it off Adrian.”
