The 2025
Grand Slam of Darts is scheduled to take place in Wolverhampton from 8th to 16th November. It will mark the final edition of the tournament to feature a 32-player field, as from 2026 onwards, the event will expand to include 48 players.
There are several routes to qualification for the Grand Slam of Darts. The primary method is by reaching the final of a major tournament.
Luke Littler and Martin Lukeman secured their spots last year by contesting the final of the previous edition — a match Littler won in dominant fashion, 16-3. However, ‘The Nuke’ now qualifies automatically as the reigning World Champion.
Also confirmed for Wolverhampton are major winners
Luke Humphries,
Michael van Gerwen, Josh Rock and Daryl Gurney. Runners-up James Wade, Jonny Clayton and Gerwyn Price are likewise assured of their places.
Typically, sixteen spots are reserved for finalists of PDC majors. So far, nine have been filled, and this number could rise to a maximum of eleven depending on the outcome of the European Championship, taking place from 23–26 October. Beyond that, the focus shifts to winners of the European Tour and, if necessary, Players Championship events.
Nathan Aspinall, Stephen Bunting, Gary Anderson, Martin Schindler and Niko Springer have all secured their places through victories on the European Tour.
Should the European Championship fail to produce any new TV finalists, two additional spots will be allocated to Players Championship winners. These places go to the players with the most tournament wins; if tied, their world ranking will be the deciding factor. At present, Chris Dobey and Damon Heta are the leading contenders, though two more Players Championship events are still to be played at the end of October.
An additional eight players will qualify via various tours and championships. Gian van Veen and Jurjen van der Velde booked their 2025 Grand Slam places by reaching the final of the 2024 World Youth Championship. Cameron Crabtree earned his invitation by topping the 2025 PDC Development Tour ranking.
Lisa Ashton has received a Grand Slam invite as the 2025 Women’s World Matchplay champion, while Beau Greaves also qualifies after winning the PDC Women’s Series Order of Merit. The winner of the Challenge Tour Order of Merit — to be confirmed on 26 October — will also gain entry.
Alexis Toylo and Alex Spellman will also take part. Originally, Lourence Ilagan had qualified as PDC Asian Championship winner, but withdrew due to medical reasons, allowing runner-up Toylo to step in. Spellman was invited as the CDC Continental Cup champion.
Finally, the remaining eight places will be decided through the Tour Card Holder Qualifier on Friday 31st October. This event is open to Tour Card holders who have not yet secured qualification.
