Daryl Gurney is through to the Quarter-Finals at the Melbourne Darts Masters despite a spirited comeback from Kyle Anderson in a 6-3 win.
Gurney began the match by smashing in a 180 and double six to clinch the first leg and he hit two more 180's on the way to a break of throw to double his lead.
He added to that tally further to go 3-0 up with an astonishing 115 average and 3/5 on the doubles. Anderson finally got off the mark at 3-1 behind and stayed in touch at 4-2 to to start mounting a comeback.
He missed his chance to level and Gurney broke back again to go 5-3 ahead and from there he dispelled the comeback to claim the victory.
Gary Anderson on the other hand had a more simpler route through in a 6-0 whitewash win over James Bailey.
'The Flying Scotsman' claimed the opening leg with a brilliant 80 checkout and then claimed a break of throw with an 81 checkout to double his lead. He started to fly away from 'The Bull' with double 10 to make it 3-0.
Bailey seemed to be heading back into the contest with a first 180 but this was dispelled by Anderson as he went 4-0 up. He went one away at 5-0 up with a 100 checkout with the same average to boot.
Anderson finished off the victory to claim his whitewash win over the DPA Qualifier and now he remains on course for a Quarter-Final test against Michael van Gerwen.
