Ryan Searle found his way past Tomoya Goto wrapping up a spirited display from the Japanese ace in the process with a 102 checkout on double 20 for a 3-1 sets win at the PDC World Darts Championship.

While not at his best, Searle is safely through to Round Three and will return after Christmas where he also expects Gary Anderson to continue his excellent form.

"Backstage I was hitting everything and I really thought I was going to go up and blow him away. It didn't happen. I think I hit my doubles at the crucial points and I think that was the main thing in the end. He missed two darts for 1-1 and I think it could've been a different game as coming from 2-0 down is hard work. I felt early on there wasn't much coming from him so it wasn't like pushing me along where I wanted to be so I'm just happy to get over the line.

He also spoke about how he needs to change aspects of his life and that he is taking the European Tours for granted and perhaps hating the travelling is a catalyst for poor form as a seed.

"I've been seeded the last two years on the Euro Tour and I've been terrible really. I don't know if I've taken the Euro Tours for granted. I've got two young children and I don't really enjoy the travelling. Sometimes it's four or five times in a row, I live down South so I'm driving to Heathrow and back every weekend. But that's something I need to get my head around. I feel like I'm experienced enough now to get my head around that.

It was then quipped that he sounds like Gary Anderson and he was full of praise for his long-time practice partner.

"How well is Gary playing at the moment? I know because he batters me every week when we practice. Fair play to him, you can never say Gary is a dark horse due to who he is. But he's playing well and it wouldn't surprise me if he won this tournament."
