The PDC Challenge Tour starts for 2025 on Friday January 17 with five tournaments over the opening weekend. The Prize Money is now confirmed for the secondary tour with £360,000 paid out over the course of the season.
This circuit is open to players who participated in the Q-School, but failed to win a Tour Card. A kind of second division, then, for players who want to seek refuge with the PDC.
Beau Greaves, Mervyn King, Simon Whitlock and Fallon Sherrock are among those who will play on this secondary tour this season.
Prize Money isn't won until the Last 64. Players can start with £75 from that point. That amount then increases each round. The winner collects a handsome £2,500.
The Challenge Tour ranking is based on prize money earned. At the end of the season, the numbers one and two receive an invitation to the World Darts Championship, plus a Tour Card for 2026 and 2027.
In addition, there is another reward for players who do well. The top of the standings have a chance to compete as a reserve player in the Players Championship tournaments on the PDC Pro Tour. If a Tour Card holder fails to register or cancels, the highest ranked player on the Challenge Tour Order of Merit may fill in.
