Luke Littler remains on course for overall victory at the 2025 PDC Winmau World Masters. 'The Nuke' had no trouble with James Wade in the last sixteen and will now take on Jonny Clayton in the quarterfinals.

Littler became world champion for the first time in his career early this year. His first two tournaments as reigning world champion (Bahrain Darts Masters and Dutch Darts Masters) resulted in a quarterfinal and semifinal place, respectively. The Englishman, who turned 18 last week, therefore went to Milton Keynes with a lot of ambition and wanted to go for another tournament win this weekend. He seems well on his way to doing so after leaving Wade completely defenseless in the second round. The multiple major winner didn't win a single leg, more than that, he didn't get a chance for a double. Littler clocked a 105.47 average.

“I think I played very well there," said Littler post-match. "It wasn’t James’ night tonight, but 105 average and 50% on the doubles - I’m really happy with that. I just wanted to get the job done, because I know what James can do, and I’m happy to get another win. I’m a quick starter and in this format that’s really important, so I’ll make sure I am fully focused and ready for tomorrow.”

"Sometimes I do surprise myself, but then again, I can look at myself and say you have got the game to do it, you are World Champion, you can beat anyone," he continues. “Wadey didn’t turn up and that just gave me confidence to go on and win. I just want to go on stage and get the job done. Any trophy on any scale, but it’s going to take some beating against Jonny. But I know myself I have the game to beat him, get over that one and I know it’s a long day and night.”

Pre-match Wade had indicated in the press that he thought Littler was rather lazy. He acknowledged Littler's immense talent, of course, but felt that much more training could be right. “I didn’t see it, but he’s right. I am lazy. In the practice room as well. I don’t have to practice for hours and hours," Littler acknowledged. “You know yourself when to play when you’ve practiced for that long, you’ve warmed up and you’ve ready to go.”

As mentioned, Littler will take now take on Jonny Clayton in the quarterfinals.
