Heta edges past Petersen to book Quarter-Final spot on Grand Slam debut

Damon Heta is through to the Quarter-Finals of the Grand Slam of Darts on debut after seeing off Devon Petersen in a 10-7 victory.

Heta led to start the tie with Petersen not at the races and despite the latter coming back, his initial lead and a brilliant 144 checkout proved the difference in the end as 'The Heat' marches on.

Like alluded to, Petersen was not at the races to begin the tie and headed into the interval at 4-1 down to Heta who was really taking it to 'The African Warrior' with a 100 average.

They returned from the interval and Heta continued to put Petersen in trouble with a break of throw with an 82 checkout to make it 6-2.

But Petersen put out glimmers that he was heading back into the tie breaking back to make it 6-3 with a 96 checkout.

This was immediately undone though as Heta hit back with a 13-darter to remain four ahead at 7-3 up. Petersen took out 110 to trail 8-4 when they returned from the second interval and he once again broke to make it 8-5.

But a massive 144 checkout was the turning point for Heta as he went 9-6 up and he concluded it with a 25 checkout to make it 10-7.
