Heta survives match darts against Wattimena, Anderson claims superb win over Searle

Two more players are through to the knockout phase at the Grand Slam of Darts with Damon Heta and Gary Anderson booking their places.

Heta was facing off against Jermaine Wattimena in a crucial match and won through surviving three match darts against the Dutchman to win through to the knockout phase on his debut.

'The Heat' put the pressure on straight away claiming a 2-0 lead over Wattimena but the latter produced a quick fire double including a break and a 110 checkout to put himself on level terms.

Heta always attempted to make distance between himself and Wattimena though sharing legs five and six before going one away at 4-3.

He squandered two match darts though and Wattimena sent it all away before having the chance to win which he couldn't convert so it will be Heta joining his World Cup teammate Simon Whitlock in the next round.

While Anderson saw off Ryan Searle with a superb display despite of course still being injured. He is through to the knockout stage for a 14th consecutive year with a 5-3 win, a 99.8 average and 5/6 on the doubles.
