The twelfth
Players Championship of the year was a triumph for
Gerwyn Price. 'The Iceman' was too strong for Josh Rock 8-7 yesterday in the final in Leicester. For Price, it is already his third title this year at the Players Championship.
The highest average of the day also came to the 39-year-old Welshman. In the quarter-finals, Price was 6-2 too strong for his compatriot Jonny Clayton. In that match he posted an average of 112.25, nobody did better yesterday.
The second highest average was also for Price. Indeed, in his 7-2 semifinal win against Ian White, he averaged 110.80.
The top three is completed by the aforementioned Rock. The 23-year-old Northern Irishman achieved an amazing average of no less than 110.70 in his lost final against Price. Rock did almost ten points better than Price, but still lost 8-7. Rocky' again showed his good form after winning a Players Championship last week.
The Players Championship continues next week in the Netherlands. Tournaments thirteen and fourteen will then be completed in Rosmalen on Monday and Tuesday, respectively.
