The final day of the first phase of the UK Q-School was completed in Milton Keynes on Wednesday. Players could qualify there for the final stage that takes place from Thursday to Sunday.
The highest average of the day came from Justin Hood. The Englishman was a 5-0 winner against his compatriot Luke Smith in the last 256 with an average of 104.38. Hood eventually reached the last 32 before a 5-2 defeat to Scott Campbell. However, he finished fourth in the Q-School Order of Merit and still qualified for the final stage of Q-School.
In second place of highest averages we find Darren Armstrong. In the last 64, the Scot defeated Martin Grearson 5-4, achieving a 99.19 average. Armstrong then lost 5-3 to Joshua Richardson at the last 32. Not to worry, because thanks to his 18th place in the Q-School Order of Merit, Campbell may also advance to the final stage.
Completing the top three was the aforementioned Scott Campbell, who was 5-2 too strong for Dale Gadsby at the last 256, averaging 98.04. Campbell was then left stranded at the last 16 stage after a 5-4 defeat to Henry Coates, but may also advance to the final stage of Q-School.
