The ninth tournament of the PDC Development Tour was a triumph for Owen Bates. The 22-year-old Englishman defeated German Leon Weber 5-2 in the final. The highest average of the day was also credited to Bates. Beau Greaves also impressed again, but this time lost in the semifinals.
Bates was too strong at the last 16 with a 4-0 win over Charlie Large. In that match, he posted an average of 105.47. In the PDC Development Tour standings, Bates is now second, just under 2,000 pounds from the number one seed, Beau Greaves.
The highest average of the day, however, Bates had to share with Viktor Tingström. The Swede, who captured his PDC Tour Card at the beginning of this year, beat Englishman Harvey Wilkinson 4-0 in the last 32 with an average of 105.47, just like Bates. Tingström eventually lost 4-1 to Charlie Manby at the last 16.
The top three is completed by the same Manby. The 19-year-old Englishman was 4-0 too strong for Ryan Walsh at the last 256 and averaged 101.90 in that match. Manby eventually lost 5-2 to Poland's Sebastian Bialecki in the quarterfinals.
Greaves
Just outside the top three, in fourth place, we find Beau Greaves. The 21-year-old Englishwoman, who thus leads the PDC Development Tour, had won the sixth tournament on Friday. In the ninth tournament, she eventually stranded in the semifinals after a 5-1 defeat to Bates. A round earlier, she had won 5-2 against Jannis Barkhausen in the quarterfinals. In that match she posted an average of 101.85.
Today at the Mattioli Arena in Leicester, the tenth tournament of the PDC Development Tour will be completed. After that, the PDC Development Tour will resume in early May.
