Highest average for Raymond van Barneveld at Players Championship 21

The 21st Players Championship of the year was a triumph for Michael van Gerwen, who was too strong for Dave Chisnall in the final, 8-4. However, the highest average was not for 'Mighty Mike', but for another legendary Dutchman.

Raymond van Barneveld went down 6-4 against Wessel Nijman in his opening match. Although the five time world champion was far fromdisappointing in his performance. 'Barney' achieved an average of 112.71 in this match, nobody did better at Players Championship 21. Still, it was not enough to win against Nijman, who posted the second highest average of the day with 108.74.
Nijman himself eventually lost out in the last 32 after a 6-5 defeat to Gerwyn Price. This performance did move him up to 78th in the PDC Order of Merit.
The top three is completed by Daryl Gurney. The Northern Irishman won 6-1 over George Killington in the last 64, averaging 107.69. Gurney lost 6-4 to Jonny Clayton a round later.

Tournament winner Michael van Gerwen can be found in fourth place in this list. He did save his highest average of the day (106.67) for the final against Chisnall.
