Ahead of the World Matchplay, we take a look at the highest averages in the history of the prestigious tournament at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool.
Phil Taylor, is as expected is a huge part of the list and is first with 114.99; from the first round in 2010. The next player in the list is Michael van Gerwen, who is fifth on the list. The world number one hit a stunning 110.93 average during the
World Matchplay 2015.
Adrian Lewis follows that with 110.51 in the first round in 2014. In a real showing of Taylor's dominance though of the 33 averages below; 24 of the highest were hit by 'The Power' and the overall high standard is shown with the 33 below all being over 105.
Even still the only other players to appear on the list are the aforementioned Van Gerwen and Lewis; as well as Peter Wright and Gary Anderson. It will be interesting to see with the rising standard as of late whether any players can join the list.
