Another
Pro Tour event is being competed by the best players in the world in Leicester, but a piece of history has been made in the process. After defeating Lukas Wenig in the opening round,
James Wade has confirmed his 1000th match won on the PDC
Pro Tour circuit.
Longevity is something that the 42-year-old has abundances of. Since introducing himself onto the PDC Tour as a young talent, he has scooped up a number of major titles which confirms his status as one of the greatest to ever do it.
It is not just on the big stage with the TV cameras glaring ominously on him where he excels. On the Pro Tou Circuit, Wade has shown his class numerous times: 1000 to be exact.
He proved way too good for Wenig in the opening round of Players Championship 7, thrashing the German 6-1 while averaging over 96. A trio of 15-darters completed a run of six legs on the spin to confirm the staggering milestone.
He has collected in excess of 20 Players' Championship titles. The most recent came right at the start of the year as he kicked off 2026 with a bang. While he would go on to lose in the second round against a superd Cristo Reyes, history had already been made, and 'The Machine' was soaking it up on
social media."Afternoon folks. Well that wasn't the ending I wanted today but on a more positive note this did happen. After winning my first game today I became the first and only player to win 1,000 matches in the Players Championships Events," he wrote.
"What an achievement and I feel really proud of that!! Thank you to all of you who support and follow me. Thank you to Sammi and the boys for always being there and thanks always to my management and sponsors!! Have a great Monday and I'll be back on the oche tomorrow."
