The Players Championship series resumes on Tuesday 29 and Wednesday 30 July with Events 22 and 23. Key ranking points and qualification opportunities are up for grabs with many of the big names also not playing in Hildesheim.
Many of those heading to Australia have decided not to enter including Jonny Clayton, Damon Heta, Luke Humphries, Luke Littler, Josh Rock as well as Stephen Bunting, Chris Dobey and Gerwyn Price. James Wade will also take the next double header off after his run to the World Matchplay final.
This leaves the likes of Dave Chisnall, Joe Cullen, Daryl Gurney, Ross Smith, Dimitri van den Bergh, Gian van Veen and Raymond van Barneveld as those who will make the trip over to Germany so opportunity certainly knocks.

What is the PDC Pro Tour?

The Players Championship circuit is a vital part of the PDC Pro Tour, comprising 34 events in 2025. These ‘floor tournaments’ form the backbone of the season for the 128 PDC Tour Card holders, offering prize money, ranking points, and qualification pathways to major televised events.
If a Tour Card holder withdraws, the field is topped up with the highest-ranked players from the Challenge Tour Order of Merit – ensuring a consistently competitive line-up at every event.
These tournaments don’t just provide income and match sharpness; they also play a direct role in qualification for premier events such as:
  • World Matchplay
  • World Grand Prix
  • PDC World Darts Championship
  • Players Championship Finals (qualification based solely on this series)
In addition to this week’s events in Hildesheim, Players Championship tournaments are being staged throughout the year at venues in Wigan, Rosmalen, Leicester and Milton Keynes. The 2025 season began on 10–11 February in Wigan and will wrap up with the final two events there on 29–30 October.
For those not in attendance, they will likely return to action in Antwerp on the European Tour post the next World Series double header with the Flanders Darts Trophy next on the list.
