Jamie Hughes has claimed a maiden PDC title and joins the European Tour roll of honour for this year with victory over Stephen Bunting at the Czech Darts Open.
Hughes as a result has also snatched away a World Matchplay spot in the last possible event before the cut-off from his stablemate and good friend James Wilson.
'Yozza' started the match like he did against Whitlock by going behind missing four darts at double in the opening leg to lose his throw against Bunting.
'The Bullet' continued his charge by doubling his lead in the early going; but Hughes came back to halve the deficit.
Bunting wasn't going to give it up though and went 3-1 ahead with an exquisite 95 checkout on the bull. This didn't hinder Hughes though either as he came back to hit back to back 180's; before hitting an 11 darter to go 3-2 behind.
He tied the match up at three a piece from there to turn the tide in the contest towards the Black Country ace. This showed with him taking the lead for the first time in the match with a 12 darter to go 4-3 up.
He extended his lead to 5-3 with a brilliant 120 checkout and made it five legs on the spin following that to go only two legs away from the title. The barrage continued as he hit double 18 which has been his friend alongside double 20 all weekend.
Bunting didn't have anything left from then and really faded which allowed Hughes to hit double 20 once again for the title.
