Jamie Hughes has made sure that there will be a new winner on the European Tour later tonight with 'Yozza' set to face off against Stephen Bunting after a brilliant 7-3 win over Simon Whitlock.
Hughes is one win away now from a maiden PDC title and also a World Matchplay spot at the expense of good friend, James Wilson.
The Black Country ace was clinical throughout against Whitlock coming from 2-0 down to slay 'The Wizard' who had the crowd on his side throughout the contest but lost his way when Hughes started to fire.
Like alluded to Whitlock started well and he hammered in a 118 checkout to claim that 2-0 lead but a break of throw and a brilliant 136 checkout to boot made it two a piece before long.
He took the lead for the first time with a second break of throw; meaning questions were going to be asked of Whitlock.
His exhibition of clinical finishing continued with a 115 checkout to make it 4-2; he then made it five in a row with a 72 checkout extending his run to 5/8 on the doubles.
'The Wizard' came back though with a fine 94 checkout where he used 18, D19, D19 to the roar not only of the former European Champion but of the crowd. This was all in vein though with the focused Tipton thrower coming back to the board in the following leg to punish five missed darts.
From there his signature double 20 was an end befitting of the tournament he had so far. The final now awaits; can 'Yozza' add his name to the
European Tour roll of honour or will the Bullet put a dent in his aspirations?
