Hughes dumps out World Champion Smith as Van Duijvenbode-Searle and Clayton-Chisnall among Players Championship 1 Quarter-Finals

The first Players Championship of 2023 is into the Quarter-Finals with two very different halves of the draw in Barnsley set to be played out.
The top half sees the big names left in action as Ryan Searle who dumped out Luke Humphries set to face Dirk van Duijvenbode who narrowly survived against Dutch talent Jurjen van der Velde.
While Premier League star, Jonny Clayton faces Dave Chisnall in the other Quarter-Final in that section.
In the other half, Jamie Hughes has blown it wide open with 'Yozza' sealing a 6-3 win over World Champion and World Number One with a 90 checkout on the bull to claim it. He faces Callan Rydz.
While stablemates collide as Dylan 'Oceans' Slevin faces Daryl Gurney with both under the MDA banner with Hughes just leaving the management stable. An interesting first day in Barnsley.
