Luke Humphries waved goodbye to the
Grand Slam of Darts with a victory. In his final group match, the reigning world champion convincingly won 5-1 over Mickey Mansell.
Defending champion Humphries already knew after two of the three group matches that he was not going to make it through the pool. He surprisingly lost to both Rowby-John Rodriguez (5-3) and James Wade (5-3), making a final ranking in the top-2 of Group A no longer a possibility.
Mansell, on the other hand, was already assured of a spot in the last sixteen, but can still become group winner. He depends on the result between James Wade and Rowby-John Rodriguez later in the evening;
Humphries took a 3-1 lead through a 100 finish and a 15-darter, among other tricks. Then the world number one closed the match in fine fashion with an 11-darter and a 12-darter.
In Group D,
Ritchie Edhouse crowned himself group winner for good. The brand new European Championship winner had already won over Ross Smith (5-1) and Connor Scutt (5-2) and add a 5-2 win over Dave Chisnall to that tally. 'Chizzy' has been eliminated from the Grand Slam of Darts after three defeats.
