The Last 16 draw line-up continues to take shape at the 2023
UK Open with
Luke Humphries and
Gary Anderson set to be part of it later this afternoon in Minehead after two superb wins over Main Stage and Stage Two.
Humphries faced off against Michael Smith in what was the tie of the round on paper on the Main Stage and it certainly delivered in a 10-9 victory as 'Cool Hand Luke' kept his cool to dump out the World Champion and World Number One.
This in a game which featured 10 180's each and sees the latest big name fall after Price did so just over an hour ago.
Smith held the early advantage going 3-2 and 6-4 up at the respective breaks with Humphries missing a dart at the bull in the latter for a level game but three on the spin saw Humphries turn the match in his favour as he went 7-6 up.
It went all the way from there as Smith took out an 11-darter to force a decider but this was only a hold of throw and it was a hold that took it for Humphries.
While over on Stage Two, fans of Anderson will rejoice with 'The Flying Scotsman' continuing his superb start to this year's UK Open with thrashing of in-form Kim Huybrechts who recently added a first ProTour title in eight years.
But he couldn't match Anderson who won 10-2 with a 93 average, five 180's and a high checkout of 106 despite missing 21 darts at double, he only afforded Huybrechts four throughout the game.
Over on the Multi-Board room,
Richie Burnett continued his run. He saw off Ted Evetts with Adrian Lewis out at the hands of Martin Schindler who averaged 101.
Adam Gawlas and Andrew Gilding have also joined the Last 16 line-up.
