Humphries edges past De Decker in tough battle, Noppert seals another dominant win with Wade success

Luke Humphries and Danny Noppert have made it through to the Last 16 of the Players Championship Finals after sealing contrasting victories on the Main Stage in Minehead on Saturday afternoon.

Noppert who sealed the UK Open earlier this season has barely dropped a leg during his campaign so far and was a 6-1 victor over James Wade in a superb victory.

Noppert won the first three legs before Wade got on the scoreboard via double 10. 'The Machine' then missed a chance at tops for 3-2, before Noppert made it 4-1 via double 4 and an 11-darter and an 85 checkout closed it out from there.

While for Humphries, it was more of a battling display with a 6-4 win over Mike de Decker eventually getting over the line after initially leading 3-1 to start proceedings.

Over on Board Two, Scott Williams sealed a thrilling 6-4 win over Dave Chisnall in which he ran riot in the early stages before Chisnall produced a fightback to nearly send it all the way but three darts missed at 5-4 allowed 'Shaggy' to go on and seal it without the tense conclusion.

Matt Campbell is through to the Last 16 of a PDC major for the first also after seeing off Martijn Kleermaker 6-4, while Ryan Searle ran riot as he eased past Jamie Hughes 6-1.
