The second round action continues at the
Players Championship Finals with four more players making it through to tonight's session including
Rob Cross,
Jonny Clayton,
Martin Schindler and
Krzysztof Ratajski.
Cross saw off Anderson in a closely fought tie with Anderson going one away at 5-4 hitting double 10 with Cross sat ready to break but 'Voltage' survived a match dart before pinning double seven last dart in hand in a clutch finish to send it to a decider.
In that decider, Cross took out 288 in six darts against the throw with a 180 followed by 108 to seal it in a superb display from the former World Champion.
Just as thrilling was Clayton's win over Ross Smith with the last winner on ITV losing out in a deciding leg to 'The Ferret' who is looking for a welcome run this weekend after a poor 2022 since finishing top of the Premier League.
Clayton edged in front to start the tie at 4-3 with Smith holding to make it 4-4 and set up a thrilling conclusion. Clayton hit a 115 checkout for a 5-4 lead and went one away only for Smith to force the decider in which 'Smudger's only chance came on 134 which he couldn't take out allowing Clayton who previously set up to pin double eight for the win from 156.
On Stage Two, Schindler took out Chris Dobey in a deciding leg hitting back to back 180's followed by double one bizarrely with Dobey way back not able to snatch it and 'The Wall' will face Cross in the Last 16. While Ratajski breezed past Jose de Sousa 6-1 in a dominant display from 'The Polish Eagle' who soared to the latter stages.
