Humphries keeps getting better and better and hit a 95 average with ten 180's en route to victory over Huybrechts and his next opponent will be either Jeffrey de Zwaan or Peter Wright as he looks to go even further than last year.
Humphries was on the back foot to begin the tie as he missed three set darts in a deciding leg; Huybrechts was able to pinch it from there.
Despite that he responded brilliantly wrapping the second set up without reply; which gave himself a foothold in a match he looked to not get the rub of the green in up to that point. Huybrechts punished more missed darts from Humphries to begin the next set; he broke the throw of the Newbury ace.
He took out an 11-darter to reduce the deficit to 2-1 from there; the quality was still to come as he took out an incredible 146 checkout after Huybrechts set up instead of leaving an attempt at the bull and it was Humphries who went ahead from there as a result.
In the next set, more missed set darts were the theme for Humphries; as he missed six allowing Huybrechts to get off the mark but he cruised to the set from there pinning an 82 checkout which saw him release an outpouring of emotion as he went 3-1 up.
He took a break of throw and continued to look good; as he went one away from victory. Humphries left himself on 170 with Huybrechts well back.
Huybrechts hit his first 180 of the match which after Humphries missed one for the match, he had a go at breaking back but Humphries didn't spurn a second opportunity and claimed the victory.
