Ahead of the tournament, Humphries spoke to
Live Darts and admitted that hopefully it will be a catalyst for future overall selection if he can claim a win.
Now he has that experience of the Premier League, it is all about improving even further for 'Cool Hand' who will face Gary Anderson in what is a great precursor to the UK Open.
"I was over the moon just like I was last year. Unless I'm in the proper Premier League line-up, this is the best it's going to get for me. I think last year was a great taste of what the elite level is like and I really enjoyed it so this year is going to be even more fun and I'm looking forward to playing again," said Humphries to LiveDarts.
"There was a lot of players in the mix and a lot of good players missed out but I'm just happy I'm in it and it's a great feeling getting that text knowing you're back in the Challengers."
"I think this year there is bound to be a winner. My own personal goal is to win this year, I think that's the next step to prove I can put a good performance up on that big stage in the Premier League and win. That'll help towards selection for the years to come if I'm ever to have a good year which I know I'm capable of."
