It was a particularly strange sight at the past World Cup of Darts. Dimitri Van den Bergh and Kim Huybrechts not giving each other a glance during Belgium's opening match against Finland.
Both Belgians did return to "normal" against each other for the rest of the tournament, but the folds were certainly not smoothed out. "We do talk back now," Huybrechts said. "We say hello and do a little chat when we see each other. It's not that we're best buddies, sitting at the same table or gaming together at hotel, but ... You know, I've known Dimitri since he was born. There have been issues and there still are, they're not suddenly gone, but we do act normal to each other."
"We also learned a very hard lesson then, a good one maybe. Everyone has issues, the downside for us was that it was highlighted in front of millions of viewers."
Meanwhile, Mike De Decker is also making a serious advance in the world rankings, but the choice between Van den Bergh and De Decker is not difficult for Huybrechts. "Dimitri is just better than Mike," he chimes in. "I also have a better click with him in terms of darts. Mike is also a little too much on his own for me. Even at tournaments he always seems to be introverted and therefore he generally has little contact. Mike also has no fixed group he belongs to or place he sits. With Dimitri you have more social contact at such a tournament anyway."
