Thanks to Michael van Gerwen's pre-planned family holiday, Peter Wright has been drafted in to complete the lineup of eight PDC stars at the 2025 Bahrain Darts Masters. Ahead of the event getting underway this afternoon, Wright has expressed his desire to impress at the World Series of Darts 2025 opener.

Wright heads to Bahrain with momentum started to pick back up too. After a dreadful 2024 by his own high standards, the Scot showed signs of life at the 2025 PDC World Darts Championship, ending the reign of Luke Humphries en route to the quarter-finals, before losing in the last eight 5-2 to Stephen Bunting, who also makes the trip to Bahrain for the start of the 2025 World Series of Darts.

“It was nice to show the world I could still play darts,” reflects Wright in quotes to the PDC ahead of the 2025 Bahrain Darts Masters. “I believe there is plenty more to come from me this year, and I’ll have time to rest and be fresher for the floor tournaments and the European Tour away from the Premier League."

In fact, Wright sees the perfect example for him to follow in the form of former world champion Rob Cross, who himself dropped out of Premier League Darts selection before building himself back up and regaining his spot amongst the darts elite for the last two years. “I will take a leaf out of the Rob Cross' book. He wasn’t in the Premier League and for two years he worked hard and all the results came," Wright explains. "That’s why he’s now fourth in the world!”

In the opening round of the 2025 Bahrain Darts Masters this Thursday afternoon, Wright faces off against the potentially tricky PDC Asian Tour Order of Merit winner Alexis Toylo in the penultimate match of the session.
