Scott Williams had a painful introduction to a completely different sport during his stay in Switzerland. The English darts player tried curling for the first time in Zurich, and it went anything but smoothly. According to the world number 44, he wonāt be stepping onto the ice again anytime soon.
Williams is in Switzerland for an exhibition event alongside Ricky Evans and Stefan Bellmont, in the lead-up to the upcoming Players Championship tournaments. In addition to darts, he decided to try another winter sport, but he quickly thought better of it.
āIām in Zurich doing an exhibition with Ricky Evans and Stefan Bellmont before the Players Championship events next week," he said on TikTok.
āWeāre over here, itās an absolutely delightful venue with delightful players."
But his sporting venture outside of darts was less of a hit. āBut yesterday I experienced curling for the first time. Not hair curling, obviously ā my hair is not long enough for that. But curling that is going on in the Winter Olympics right now.
The 6-foot-4 Englishman quickly realized it wasnāt the sport for him. "As a large human being ā a six-foot-four, without-the-heels-on human being ādo not do it. Do not curl. Do not do curling. Do not get stones. Donāt even think about it because it is the most ridiculous sport."
The physical consequences were immediate. " āItās the most painful sport I have ever experienced in my life and I donāt wish it upon anyone. My legs hurt, my neck hurts."
With a wink, Williams added another discomfort. "My penis hurts ā thatās probably because I caught it in the zipper. But thatās a different story. Donāt curl.ā
