"I could go another 12 rounds" - Pumped-up Stephen Bunting full of energy in dominant win over Martin Schindler at the European Championship

Stephen Bunting was one of the two players who managed to throw a 100+ average in the first round of the European Darts Championship on Thursday night. Thanks to a 101.42 average, he was clearly too good for Martin Schindler (6-1).
So the Englishman stepped into the press room satisfied to look back on his match. "I'm really happy with the performance. Obviously, it's always difficult being last on, you've got to pace yourself right, you've got to make sure that you stay awake. There's been times that had caught me out in the past and I felt a bit sluggish towards the end, but yeah tonight I feel really good I feel like I could go another 12 rounds," Bunting joked.
A few weeks ago, Bunting changed his equipment. For years he threw 12-gram darts, but now 'The Bullet' throws 18-gram darts. Since then, his level has gone up considerably.
''These new darts have taken me to new heights. I'm producing 100-plus averages week in week out now and I honestly believe that there is a big title. I'm not going to put too much pressure on myself and say when that will come but I’m playing better now than I did at Lakeside."

Although he is charismatic and has personality unlike the boring and dull as dishwater Dobey. It is quite pathetic and desperate the way Bunting and Arsepinall pander to the crowd to dance to their walk on music, that has worked though. I would like to see more players involved on a weekly basis similar to the Modus Super Series. A knockout tournament with 16 winners from each week. - I'm glad wright and van Ben bergh were overlooked. Too much dancing,not enough darting. Bunting is always quality,as for price,he's a crowd pleaser(!!?) too. Aspinall has had his problems,but it's nice to see him back,he's a decent chap. Dobey is a top player,big hitter,so I won't complain. Cross will finish bottom,much as I like him,he seems to be off lately. I'm glad they didn't pick a Belgian just for the audience. But I don't agree with the tournament or format,so I guess it's immaterial to me. They might as well turn up at a random pub and play for the beers!!!rick6707-01-2025
- I think the PDC's choice is too conservative. EIther or both of Damon Heta and Mike de Dekker should have been in, at the expense of Aspinall and possibly Price. I guess the PDC's reasoning is that they do not want too much turnover from year to year, and so having already rejected Smith and Wright, they have kept Price and Aspinall, but I guess those two are "on probation".UndartedWaters06-01-2025
