On the second night of play in this year's
Premier League Darts,
Peter Wright takes on Luke Humphries in the quarter-finals in Berlin, Germany.
Wright, like Humphries incidentally, begins Night 2 pointless after an opening match defeat last time out in Cardiff. “I played poorly last week, but I was so nervous. I was trying a few things behind the scenes and I was shaking," reflects 'Snakebite' in conversation with the PDC.
In truth, Wright has been struggling for a while. Nevertheless, the fighting spirit remains within the Scot. “I could have quite easily said I’m retiring after the World Championship,” he admits. “There’s hunger and fight. I’ve not retired. I’m not rolling over. There’s loads to come this year. I will win loads of titles."
Wright and Humphries have known each other for years. “I’ve always got on well with Luke, and I respect all the practice he’s done and the weight he has lost," Wright says. "He has shown dedication which shows other players that if you do that, you can get results too.”
