Luke Woodhouse is into the Last 16 of the PDC World Darts Championship for the first time in a heroic comeback win over Damon Heta reeling off nine straight legs for a 4-3 win.

But Woodhouse went viral for a different reason as his incredible sportsmanship and reaction to Heta's nine-dart finish was perhaps better than the perfect leg itself as he explained that as well as the nine straight legs he won to seal the win.

"At 3-1 down I wasn't overly sure it was going to be a thing but to come back against a player like Damo, I'm not sure he played that well as in like for the full game. For myself, it's a massive achievement being in the Last 16 of the World Championship. We go on to the next game," said Woodhouse post match.

"I got told that when I come off nine straight legs. It didn't really feel like it was anything like that really. It's a massive positive for me, we just go to the next round and see how we get on from there."

Luke Woodhouse's incredible year continues.
Luke Woodhouse's incredible year continues.

He spoke about his bond with Heta and as a result why he got so excited to see him hit the perfect leg and it was also a legacy of Heta missing the double 12 the previous match.

"Me and Damo are friends. We've played golf together, practiced together a little bit. So I knew how annoyed he was when he missed double 12. He was up here for half an hour complaining about how he missed the double 12. So when he hit it I couldn't control myself, I was as excited as he was for him to hit it."

"I was so chuffed he hit it. £60,000 to Damo, £60,000 to charity and I'm not sure who won it in the crowd but it makes their Christmas better."

Also the change that has flicked in his head comes from being able to curb the headshaking and negativity which he said has beset him in the past.

"I haven't put a full game together yet so I don't think I've played as well as I can do. I think maybe I'm a little bit fortunate that the players I've played haven't performed as well as they can but I've definitely got more in the tank that's without a doubt."

"The way I look at it and what I've said for years is if I can get my composure and my head right on stage then I'll always stick in games. I can stick in there and I can really push players and it's only the last 18 months that I've managed to curb that head loss. I'm feeling really good."
