Damon Heta on Friday afternoon became the second player after Christian Kist to manage to throw a nine-darter at the World Darts Championship. But like "The Lipstick," Heta finally lost his match.
And that is not very special if we look at the history books. Players who throw a nine darter at the World Darts Championship lose their match more often than they win it.
Heta's nine-darter was the 16th in the history of the World Darts Championship at the PDC. He was the ninth player to fail to win his match.
It is especially a trend in recent years that the player who throws a nine darter loses the game. In the last 11 nine darters, the player who threw it lost eight times.
Dean Winstanley, Terry Jenkins, Kyle Anderson, Adrian Lewis, James Wade, Darius Labanauskas and Gerwyn Price are the seven other players who have lost their match in the past after throwing a perfect leg.
