Ross Smith caused a slight upset in his first-round tie at the World Grand Prix as he sent Jonny Clayton packing with a straight sets victory over the Welshman.
Sealing the win in style, 'Smudger' took out 130 for the match. "Really happy with the 130," he told Boyle Sports in a post-match interview. "To be honest, the rest of the game is a bit of a blur. I didn't feel comfortable up there, I don't think Jonny did either and it was a bit of a strange game to be honest but I'll take the win all day long."
Already a major champion after taking victory at the 2022 European Championships, Smith could return the world's top 16 with a good run in Leicester, but that isn't something he's paying any attention to at the moment.
"It doesn't even enter my head. All I'm focused on is who I play in the next round or whoever is in front of me. I'm not bothered," he explains. "I just play who's in front of me and I'm glad to be into the next round."
In the last 16, Smith faces Joe Cullen. "Joe's brilliant isn't he. He's a Masters champion and he's a lovely guy. I'm going to go up there and just play my game. I'm not bothered about what Joe does, just going to concentrate on myself."
