I didn't sleep until 5 o'clock. Abdominal pain, you can imagine the rest yourself": Van Duijvenbode balks after unnecessary elimination

The World Matchplay ended in a big disappointment for Dirk van Duijvenbode. Aubergenius' lost a 10-7 lead in the second round against Luke Humphries and went down 14-12.

Van Duijvenbode completely failed in the closing stages of the match. "In the closing stages I had no more energy. I lay awake all night and I just didn't have it anymore in that final stage. I didn't sleep until 5 o'clock. Abdominal pain, you can imagine the rest yourself" Van Duijvenbode said to Viaplay.

"That doesn't make a difference in the end. I miss not because I can't throw double 8, but just because I sit and think about it too much. It goes wrong twice there, so that got in my head"

Van Duijvenbode was therefore hugely disappointed. "I thought he was really bad, but I couldn't take advantage of it myself. I could be ahead 4-1 and 6-4, but I failed to do that. I really had plenty of chances. At the end I really didn't have the energy anymore. He did have the energy to go at the end. All in all, it was pretty unnecessary to lose this match. To my mind I was much better than him, but I totally crumbled."
