"I don't have the words for this": Johan Engstrom shocked and emotional after Wright win at Nordic Darts Masters

Johan Engstrom surprisingly managed to advance to the quarterfinals at the Nordic Darts Masters by winning 6-5 over defending champion Peter Wright in the opening round on Friday night.

Engstrom was able to make up a 5-3 deficit against Wright. The Swede closed to 5-4 again with a 13-darter before forcing a deciding leg with an 80 finish. In the final leg, Engstrom threw another 13-darter to take the win.

For Engstrom, it was his first victory on the World Series stage. ''I am really, really happy,'' an emotional Engstrom said after his sensational victory in conversation with PDC.tv.

“I don’t have the words for this. Maybe Peter didn’t perform at his best, but my doubles were good, and I did it!" The doubles were indeed excellent for the 47-year-old darter from Södertälje, Sweden. He achieved a 67 percent finish percentage.

On Saturday night, Engstrom will play in the quarterfinals of the Nordic Darts Masters against reigning world champion Luke Humphries. "This is one of the best wins of my career, and hopefully I can do even better tomorrow!”
