Raymond van Barneveld will play Gerwyn Price again at the PDC
World Darts Championship on Tuesday night.
For Van Barneveld, it could be a third win in two months after he took down Price twice against the odds at the Grand Slam of Darts.
But as he points out, willpower and belief is one thing but he has to go out and produce and nothing is a foregone conclusion.
“It’s all about belief. You could be the best player in the world, it doesn’t matter – you have to perform,” said Van Barneveld.
“Gerwyn knows what to do to beat me, but I’m looking forward to that game.
“I’m comfortable, I know what I can do. I don’t look at him and think: 'Oh, he’s the number one in the world.'
“I play the board. I believe in myself and on a good day, I can beat all and everyone.”
“I beat Gerwyn in the group stage at the Grand Slam of Darts, and everyone was thinking: ‘Ray playing Gerwyn in a best of 31 – he can’t do this’, but I did,” added the 55-year-old.
“I feel comfortable and if you believe and you have the willpower to succeed – you can do it. I have this willpower, but statistics don’t matter. Tuesday is a new day.
“We both have to work hard to make this a fantastic game and I’m really looking forward to this, because I love to play."
